Carnival Cruise 2025 Changes

Carnival Cruise Line is charting a course for a truly unforgettable 2025, unveiling new adventures that promise to delight both seasoned cruisers and first-time explorers alike. With the addition of two freshly renovated vessels – now reimagined as Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter – from P&O Cruises Australia, the iconic โ€œFun Shipโ€ experience is about to get even more exciting.

Carnival’s Fleet Expansion in 2025

In 2025, Carnival Cruise Line will expand its fleet by incorporating two ships from P&O Cruises Australia, renaming them Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter. These vessels will undergo renovations to align with Carnival’s signature “Fun Ship” atmosphere while retaining popular features like the Edge Adventure Park and Byron Beach Club.

Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter are set to be household names in the Australian market from 2025

This strategic move will strengthen Carnival’s presence in the Australasian market, bringing their fleet to 29 ships. The newly acquired vessels will offer cruises to destinations such as:

  • Vanuatu
  • Fiji
  • New Caledonia
  • Papua New Guinea

Carnival Adventure will be based in Sydney alongside Carnival Splendor, while Carnival Encounter will operate from Brisbane, joining Carnival Luminosa during peak seasons.

Celebration Key Opening

July 2025 marks the debut of Carnival’s Celebration Key in the Bahamas, a 65-acre resort representing a $600 million investment. This exclusive destination features five themed areas:

  1. Welcome Portal: Offers live music and a large sandcastle display.
  2. Family-Friendly Portal: Includes a freshwater lagoon, watersports, and private cabanas.
  3. Adult-Friendly Portal: Features a swim-up bar and DJ entertainment.
  4. Private Club Portal: Provides an adults-only retreat with an infinity pool and premium dining options.
  5. Retail Portal: Houses duty-free shops and local craft vendors.

A new pier accommodates two Excel-class ships, allowing direct access to the resort. Over 10 Carnival ships will visit Celebration Key, offering voyages ranging from 3 to 10 nights. The resort is expected to host up to 2 million guests annually by 2026.

Norfolk Year-Round Cruises

Starting February 2025, Carnival Sunshine will offer year-round cruises from Norfolk, Virginia. The ship will provide a variety of itineraries to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, and Celebration Key.

Cruise options include:

  • Eight-night Eastern Caribbean voyages to Grand Turk, Amber Cove, and San Juan
  • Six-night Bermuda cruises with an overnight stop at King’s Wharf
  • Six-night Bahamas trips to Freeport, Nassau, and Bimini
  • Voyages to Celebration Key beginning September 2025

This expansion is expected to boost Norfolk’s economy, benefiting local businesses such as hotels, restaurants, and shops. The increased cruise activity may create new job opportunities and enhance Norfolk’s status as a significant East Coast cruise port.

"Norfolk's maritime legacy enters an exciting new chapter with year-round cruising. This expansion strengthens our economy, brings more visitors and creates new opportunities for our community. We're proud to partner with Carnival and look forward to a thriving future together."

– Kenneth Alexander, Norfolk Mayor
